JOHNNY RINGO -Horse #00001 Status: PERMANENTLY RETIRED TO BUCKLAND EQUINE

J. R. NEEDS SPONSORSHIP TO HELP ALL HIS RESCUE FRIENDS!

Johnny Ringo arrived here on July 1st, 2007. A casualty of a fall, we suspect over hurdles in Ireland during a race, his career ended, and his history is murky at best. A damaged front left ankle left him a cripple on a variety of farms for nearly six years. We got him 48 hours ahead of the kill truck. He has almost completely mended and we will hopefully have him under light saddle work in the Summer of '08. He is a character with some odd quirks that defy description here, but does include the habit of throwing his food bucket across his stall during feed times. Why? We will never know. It is the Thoroughbred way, we suppose. Johnny was 12 years old when we got him, and he will live out his life here as our spokeshorse. A big, classic, racing machine, with a heart of gold, J.R. shares tea, beer, carrots and crackers with us. What a cool guy....

MAY '08 UPDATE! We get Johnny Ringo back under saddle! Retraining for trail and light cross country begins in June!
