HIGHER VISION Horse #00019 Arrived Here at BERI April 2nd, 2009
STATUS: NOW BOARDING AT BERI - ADOPTION STATUS PENDING: FEE $1000
This great guy is a purebred Rocky Mountain Horse. Trouble is, he suffers from a condition called ASD, which is a genetic defect caused by too much 'back breeding' to achieve a certain color. And what does ASD do to a horse? Well, he's pretty much blind. Not that this has stopped him from being a real horse around here. He is teamed up with Tucker, a privately boarded thoroughbred here for rehabilitation and board at The Buckland. Tucker keeps a close watch on Vision, and the two are never very far apart as they rampage around the lawns at Buckland House. He has SOME peripheral sight, and POSSIBLY long range straight sight, but as soon as the sun sets, he is without any optical ability at all. Still, he has that uncanny ability to map out his territory in his head and knows nearly every obstacle on his turf. An incredibly fast learner, We hope to show him 'in hand' this fall to demonstrate that even horses with debilitating handicaps, such as blindness can learn and thrive with the proper love and care.
