Text Box: "Johnny Ringo" -BERI's founder
He drinks hot tea. He likes beer. And cheese crackers with peanut butter.
Born sometime around 1996, Johnny Ringo is something of an enigma. With his tattoo mostly obliterated, we have only word-of-mouth and circumstantial evidence to theorize his history. Evidence points to a career that spanned the Atlantic, with J.R. racing in Kentucky, New York, Florida, Great Britain and Ireland.
His arrival here at Buckland  never should have happened. His survival for 6 long years after his accident on the racecourse never should have happened. The circumstances that caused his injury in 2001  never should have happened.
Yet-after all has been said, those things DID happen,  and now, -here he is.
His arrival on July 1st, 2007 came with only 48 hours notice, a quick decision by the owners of The Buckland Estate to save him from the long, painful trip to Mexico where he would have been horrifically 'processed'. He was the deciding factor as to a direction the Estate would take in it's redevelopment, and so we name him the founder of the Buckland Equine Rescue facility.
With a damaged front left ankle, he will never race again. The therapy we have given seems to have restored him to good health, and his brush-jumping abilities are evident in his superb eye-foot coordination. His speed? He's a bloomin' racehorse! The gentle rolling lowlands of the Estate gives way to our upper Highlands, a varied terrain where Johnny has rebuilt himself and now he powers up and down the face of Showtime Hill as if he were racing in the British Grand National itself. With his amazing personality and the eccentric manners of a celebrity, it is a privilege to have him with us.
Welcome home Johnny Ringo!
